My Supplies Are Here

Art Supplies

It only look 3 weeks and over $20 to ship, but they are here and I can not wait to start painting. Teaching drawing and painting at The Canvas has only increased my desire to obtain more colors and ready surfaces.  The first layer of marble dust is on, only two more coats to go. I plan to show these (finished) at my exhibit this February.

My heart is stirred.

Outside Studio

Outside Studio in Juneau

I moved my studio outside today. The porch was perfect shelter from the rain. Which is great because it hasn’t stopped raining for days! Does this count as Plein Air? The entire time I was painting I thought that bear might be under the house. I recommend this strategy to everyone. You get so much more done.

New Home, New Medium

Near the Shrine of St. ThereseThe jury is back… Alaska is awesome. Nature certainly wins. I’m trying watercolor, a new medium for me. I’m enjoying the color, but trying to harness the instant, verses years of working the oil. It’s a relief to release just a little glimpse of the beauty here.

My first landscape in watercolor. Alan and I went for a long drive to find the end of Juneau. This scene is near the Shrine of Saint Therese.

Two New Works

I Experimented with textures with these two. On the below, “Tempted Pulse” I tried to rub down to the marble dust layer. The piece above “Reaching Into Us,” has a different base texture that I left from the linen.
